Public Art Empathy Program
The
Richmond - Arts
and Culture Division, has a yearly program called the
Neighborhood
Public Art (NPA) program. They have a $75k budget for the year to
do public art projects in the city.
Michele
Seville, the manager of this program, liked our Stories of Empathy
grant proposal so much that she is committing the bulk of this years NPA
program to the theme of empathy. We will be working in collaboration
with this project which runs from April 2009 - December 2009.
Public Art Project Manager Position
The project will have the following
components:
Theme: Empathy
Budget: $75,000
Duration of project: April through December 2009
Staff
A Project Manager
A community-based public artist
Several local artist apprentices who will receive training
in the oversight of community art projects
Collaboration with Edwin Rutsch’s Empathy Stories project
Access to Empathy videos of interviews and artwork from his workshops
Access to community outreach resources
Collaborative partners: Richmond Art Center, Arts & Culture
Commission,
City of Richmond, ArtsChange, CCA,
RYSE Youth Center
Some sort of a community event in Octorber.
