Outreach to Area Organizations

Overview

For our East Bay Stories of Empathy project, we would like to work together with community organizations in Richmond and the general East Bay. If your organization is interested in collaborating with us, let us know.

To begin with, we would like to do a casual 15-20 minute video interview of  the director of your organization on their personal and organizational experience with empathy.  We will ask a few questions like: What role does empathy play in your personal  life? What role does empathy play in your organization? etc. The interviews will be placed on the Youtube 'Stories of Empathy Channel'.

We are holding longer and more in depth interview workshops at the Richmond Art Center. These free workshops meet on 3 Sundays for 4 hours and involve taking part in a series of art activities to tell a personal story about empathy. See this video about the general format of a workshop. (Joan Kuenz introduces the interview workshop process). We ask that your organization invite your members to take part in this interview process. The interview workshops take place from August to November 2009.We would like a cross section of Richmond area residence to take part.

In May of 2010, we will hold an art exhibit and video presentation of the final Stories of Empathy video. We would also ask that you send out an announcement about this event to your members as well.

Outline of Steps

Here are the steps for partnering with the East Bay Stories of Empathy. Send us your ideas.

(   ) Interview your organizations director about empathy
We would like to do a casual 15-20 minute video interview of the director of your organization on their personal and organizational experience with empathy.  We will ask a few questions like: What role does empathy play in your personal  life? What role does empathy play in your organization? etc. The interviews will be placed on the Youtube 'Stories of Empathy Channel'.

(   ) Promote our free interview workshops to your members
We are holding a series of interview workshops on the theme of empathy. We ask that you let the members of your organization know that they can take part.

(   ) Promote our final art and video presentation to your members (will be in May 2010)
In May of 2010, we will hold an empathy art exhibit and show our final East Bay Stories of Empathy video at the Richmond Art Center. We ask that you let your members know about this event.

(   ) Refer us to other East Bay Organizations
Do you know of other East Bay organizations that we  could contact?   And could you give us a personal referral to  the director of that organization?

(   ) Brainstorm how we can promote empathy together
Perhaps there are other ways that we can work together to promote empathy. We are open for other ideas.  Let us know if you have suggestions for other ways we can promote the value of empathy in the East Bay.

If you organization is interested in taking part, copy and email us the following information.
