Barack Obama is leading a movement based on values and at the core of this is the value of empathy.  Barack talks about empathy and the importance of 'standing in other peoples shoes', in many of his speeches (I've collected 50 so far).  Empathy is the most basic value he ran on and he says the country has an 'empathy deficit' that needs to be filled. Our Empathy Values Group  is building on Obama's call to address the empathy deficit with a variety of projects.

As part of this empathy movement, we are also putting together a documentary about this topic to give it some context and promote this foundational value. Let's help fill the empathy deficit by making people more aware of the topic. This is a collaborative project and we invite you to take part. We hold Empathy Cafe meetings to help build this movement.

We are also working on the City of Richmond’s Neighborhood Public Art Empathy Project and East Bay Stories of Empathy documentary.  Send me an email if you'd like to get involved with the group or with creating this video.  Edwin Rutsch  (email)

Empathy Cafe and documentary project was mentioned in a Contra Costa Times,  Oakland Tribune and San Jose Mercury article. You can download the article as a jpeg file (300k) to view the complete article with photos.
