WE ROCKED THE CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONVENTION!!!!

So let's celebrate - if you feel so inclined,
BRING A BOTTLE OF WINE TO SHARE

HILARY was elected CDP Controller and good things are already happening -
Hil will give us the scoop at Meetup.

KAREN WEINSTEIN was elected Women's Caucus Chair and

CES ROSALES elected Women's Caucus Legislative Chair

KAREN BERNAL elected Progressive Caucus Chair,

MAL BURNSTEIN and MAYME HUBERT of Marin (Co-founder of Take Back Red California) were elected Progressive Caucus Officers-at-large.

Scads of East Bay progressives showed up to campaign for our candidates and against Proposition 1A. Their work on the floor was key to the narrow vote in which California Democratic Party delegates withstood immense pressure from scores of State legislators (who were everywhere talking up the May 19th Ballot props) and voted NOT to endorse Prop 1A.

Maybe we can take back the California Democratic Party after all. Lots of work to do - none of the State's problems are solved - but the power of grassroots/netroots alliances in every part of the state is starting to show its strength.

We'll take some time at Meetup to celebrate with our winners and appreciate everyone who participated in the Great Gate Crash of 2009.

ELECTION TIME AGAIN? MAKE THAT A DOUBLE.

CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 10

With Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher's imminent appointment to a State Department post, a Special Election will be scheduled for late summer to fill the District 10 slot. We will hear from Democratic candidates:

Joan Buchanan, Assemblywoman, 15th District (confirmed)
Mark DeSaulnier, State Senator, 7th District (confirmed)
John Garamendi, Lt. Governor (invited)
Anthony Woods, (confirmed) - There's lots of buzz for Anthony, hear him at Meetup and find out why Jim Dean called personally to recommend we get to know him.

MAY 19th SPECIAL ELECTION

The Yes on 1a - f campaign will send someone to explain their position.
For the No side,
we will hear from Calitics Blogger and CDP Delegate
(18th AD, San Francisco) Brian Leubitz.
